Home
Mady and Thorn Rosenthal created R Folly Farm, in Litchfield County in North West Connecticut, as a home for their own dressage horses, who are boarded at the barn. Mady, as the sole member of R Folly Farm LLC, now operates the property as a boarding barn with twelve stalls available to others.
In 2010, R Folly Farm was presented the Horse
Farm of Environmental Distinction award by The Connecticut
Horse Environmental Awareness Program (HEAP).
This award honors horse owners who are especially effective at protecting
soil and water resources.
R Folly Farm takes pride in being a good steward
of the land and a good neighbor to those who share our common water resources.
Horse owners that qualify for the award are those who implement good manure,
pasture and facility management practices such as approved manure handling,
diverting rain water away from barnyards, installing fencing to keep horses
out of ponds and streams, utilizing a sacrifice area, installing gutters
on barns and testing pasture soils.
The HEAP program is a coalition of federal and state agencies,
organizations and individuals interested in creating environmental awareness
in the equine community.
